About the Founder
Hello!
My name is Maya Mayzel.
I come from a dance background. To be more precise: I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember. Even as a small child, I made this art form my profession, my hobby, and my way of life.
Dance has shaped me. It has taught me discipline and the constant pursuit of making my wishes and dreams come true. Above all, it has shown me that there are hardly any limits—because in dance, body and soul merge into an instrument of incredible expressiveness.
Along the way, I had the privilege of learning from the best in my field to find my own movement language. Whether on stages in Moscow, Vienna, Salzburg, Croatia, New York, Los Angeles, or Germany: each of these stops taught me a different way to speak to the audience—without a single word. As a solo dancer at the Theater Ulm, I learned what it means to work with absolute precision and all my heart on something greater than myself.
Over the years, I’ve come to realize that what drives me in dance isn’t just the stage itself, but what happens between people when movement is genuine. That one moment when someone pauses because something has touched them deep inside. That’s exactly why I choreograph: not just for fleeting applause, but for that one moment that still lingers in the room long after the performance is over.
The more often I experienced these moments, the clearer an idea became: Why should art of this quality be confined to traditional Theater stages?
Why should people organizing a special event—an exhibition opening, a company anniversary, or an exclusive celebration—settle for run-of-the-mill entertainment? I want to bring moving, authentic dance art to places where it has rarely been experienced before: in galleries, at historic wineries, in modern architectural settings, or right in the midst of business and private celebrations. Not watered down, not simplified—but with the same artistic seriousness that I have cultivated my entire life.
This is how ZelDance came to be: a company founded out of a desire to bring professional, contemporary dance to the people without sacrificing its depth. Every performance we create embodies this vision—choreographed with the same care I once put into my work for the big stages, but tailored to your space, your event, and your audience.
